Cassopolis is located in central Cass County in the
southwestern corner of Michigan's Lower Peninsula.
Specifically, Cassopolis is located in the southeastern corner of LaGrange Township, although a portion of the east side of the Village extends into Penn Township as well. Jefferson Township borders the Village to the south.

The Village is a traditional Midwestern small town.  It has an older, urban core surrounded by traditional residential neighborhoods.  The Village serves as the County Seat for Cass County and is home to the majority of the County offices, the County Courthouse, and the County Fairgrounds.

Two state highways intersect in Cassopolis: M-60 and M-62.  M-60 travels to Jackson and Three-Rivers to the east and Niles to the southwest.  It provides access to US-31, US-131, and I-69.  M-62 connects residents to South Bend and Granger, Indiana to the south as well as Dowagiac to the north.  It also provides access to US-12.  The Village is situated about 35 miles northeast of South Bend and is a part of the South Bend Metropolitan Statistical Area for census purposes.

Stone Lake is located on the southwest side of the Village and most of the lake is within the Village.  It is a beautiful asset of the community that is 156 acres in size with a depth of 56 feet at its deepest point.

There is one public access point with a small ramp and parking for 10 vehicles.  Stone Lake is a popular recreation lake with boating, fishing, sailing, and fishing being the most popular activities.  Ice fishing is also a popular activity in the wintertime.

Diamond Lake is located immediately southeast of the Village. This 1,020 acre natural lake is located in parts of four townships: LaGrange, Penn, Calvin and Jefferson Townships. The lake is a popular recreational lake containing a marina and a public boat launch.
